Teal Christmas

Teal Christmas - This fortnight challenge at Creative Card Crew is Christmas. That's right it is time to start moving into the season for us card makers.

I have used one of my favorite Christmas paper pads by The Paper Studio.  I love the teals that are in it. While teal is not a traditional Christmas color, it does go well with the reds and greens in this pad.

My image is Bugaboo Stamps is Christmas Brat Girl Dress. I must say that her dress is pretty. Looks like she is ready for a Christmas program.

Brat Girl is colored with Copics, then inked with Antique Linen and Peacock Feathers distress ink. The cracked look was achieved by using a stamp that was inked with Tea Dye distress ink, stamped off the page, then on the edges of the image. The cracked rubber stamp is by Deadbeat Designs. I found is at a scrap booking Convention in Dallas.

I added stardust Stickles to the rim and ball of her hat.

The flowers are made using MS's flower Lace corner punch. I found a tutorial on some one's blog on how to do this. I would love to give the site and credit to the person, but I do not remember where I found it. If someone know, please leave me a comment, so that I can properly credit her and link up for everyone to see her lovely tutorial.

I used the same MS corner punch on the tag.

Thanks for stopping by and join us with your Christmas creation at Creative Card Crew.

Silver

Silver - I can already feel the changing of the season and with the draught and high temperatures, it is a welcome relief.

The challenge at Alphabet Challenge Blog is O for ONE color plus white. I went with a Christmas card for this challenge. I love white on white, but they all seem to turn out to be wedding cards and I wanted to be a little different.

My DP is actually silver vellum that I ran through the CB. I don't know who made the embossing folder that I used. I know that it is not CB; as it is blue.

The envelope looking flap is a snowflake shaped paper. I just cut off one of the points. The snowflake garland is from the Seasonal Shoppe.

This flower spray is made up of several elements: a feather, a Cheery Lynn holly die cut twice - once with cardstock and once with waxpaper, 3 silver flowers and 3 beaded stick pins. Everything is held together with slate baker's twine.

I added gemstones to complete the card.

Bandit

Bandit - It has been a quite day for me, but I was very tired after my trek to the scrap booking convention yesterday.

Today, I have a card to share with you and 3 stories about raccoons. No, we don't have a pet raccoon, but my family seems to frequently have encounter with them.

I will start with the most recent encounter and I will save the best till last.

My husband was on staff a Boy Scout camp this summer. I moved into a canvas tent that was built onto a platform. That evening when he returned to his tent, there was a bandit going through his things. He had to shoo it out, as it was in no hurry to leave.

That night as he was sleeping, the raccoon entered his tent multiply times. Needless to say, he did not get much sleep. Luckily, it was the end of his time there and he was able to come home and get a little more sleep.

This raccoon card is my ST project for Seems a Little Sketchy. Here is our sketch for this challenge.

For my card, I used  some travel Designer papers that I have had in my stash for a long time. I no longer remember who made it.

My image is part of the woodland set from My Grafico, who is our sponsor for this challenge. I colored the raccoon with Copics and added the little meadow.  I cut the image with a SB and added some square brads to it.

I added a small compass on the card. The vine, is a MS punch that I embossed with a CB folder then wrapped a thin cord around.

My second raccoon story happened to my DIL. She was camping with her family and forgot to take her camera inside the camper with her when she went to bed.

The next morning the camera was gone. She finally happened upon it on one of the trails. A racoon had chewed it up. Luckily for her, she had bought the warranty plan at the office supply store that she had bought it at. Her and my son are now a legend at that store. On a later visit to the store, an employee ran around to the other employees telling them that they were the raccoon people.

My sentiment is Hot Off the Press, punched with SU punches. The kiwi pearls are made using a Viva Decor pen. I love these and I have them in several colors. They can flatten depending on the surface that they are made on. I have a mat that was designed for the hot glue gun, but I always get a nicely formed flat back pearl with it, so that is what I use.

Now for my finial raccoon tale!  My husband, son and our German Shepard, Major went camping together. That night my husband was awaken by a scraping sound. He turned his flashlight to the area and there was a raccoon dragging the large plastic container that held Major's dog food. The container was sealed and had a handle on it. The raccoon had hooked his arm through the handle and was dragging it into the woods. When my husband flashed the light on him, the raccoon stopped for a moment, but then continued his work. Major normally is quite a barker, but he didn't utter a sound at this thief. My son had to run towards the raccoon and chase him off. I wish they would have video taped this. It must have been quite a sight.

Well, that is my raccoon stories, I hope you liked them and that you will join us in our sketch challenge at Seems A Little Sketchy!

Barefoot

Barefoot - I have just spent a wonderful day with my crafty friends at the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Tulsa. I can't wait to show all of you what I bought!! I got a lot of papers. Some of it was blocks of cardstock at a really good price. My big buy was at the Heartfelt Creations booth. I bought the flower shaping tools and mat. I also bought some lovely chunky glass glitter. I am working on a peacock image and I think the shade that I bought will be lovely with it.

Todays challenge at Sunday Sketch and Stamp is sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps. They have the cutest images. So cute, yet simple and quick to color.
Here is our sketch for this weeks challenge.

My card is made using DP's from Pressed Petal, Baby Girl.

My image is Bugaboo's Barefoot. I colored her with Copics, then stamped around the image with a swirl stamp and Spun Sugar distress inks.

I used a ribbon flower and placed a yellow pearl inside it.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Count Down to Disney World

Count Down to Disney World - I have sad and happy news all at once! Today starts the last challenge for Craft Your Days Away. I have really enjoyed my time at Craft Your Days Away. I started playing in their challenges when they first formed and was elated when I made the team. They are an amazingly talented and sweet group. Joanne kept us organized and there was so much support from everyone on the team. Thank you Joanne for everything!

The happy news is that the last challenge is Anything Goes!

Now onto my project. I am taking my 4 grandson's to Disney World in October. In October they will be 7, 3, 3, and 11 1/2 months. To help them with their anticipation, I have made count down calendars for them.

Simular to an advent calendar, they have a little package that they will open each day for 2 weeks. The gifts all have something to do with Disney. One of the packages has Mickey Mouse flipflops, one has a Mickey helicoper that the blades are a little fans to cool them while we are waiting in line. Other packages have Cars fruit drops or something simular. It was hard to find something that the 7 year old and the 1 year old would both like, but I am very happy with what I came up with.

My DP is Creative Imaginations, Magic. The black is actually matting material left overs from a framing shop. It is great for this as they really sturdy.

I cut the Mickeys using my Cricut and the Mickey and Friend cartridge. The boys names are stickers. The 2 boys that live near me put their own stickers on. I did it for the 2 that live far away.

The chains are made embossed cardstock, with the count down days written with a black Sharpie.

Each day the boys will tear off a link and then dig through the package box and find the coordinating number on the package. They will then have a little gift and know how many days until we leave.

I made a hanger using a soda can tab and gold string.

I am as excited about going as the boys. Maybe I should have made one for me too. LOL

Christmas Carol

Christmas Carol - It is time for another fun challenge at Creative Card Crew. This fortnight we are sponsored by the fabulous Simon Says Stamp, the largest online craft store in North America!!! And they ship internationally!!

Creative Card Crews challenge is maps/sheet music/news print/script. I choose sheet music for my card. I thought is worked well with this fabulous caroling image by Stampin Up.

My sheet music DP is Color Bok's Sepia sheet music. I tore the DP using my Fiskers Tear Edger. I love this tool because without my tears go very crooked. Not a pretty sight at all. LOL

The foundation layer was distressed with my TH distress tool.

The other DP is The Paper Studio, Holiday Wonder pad. The pad has some teals in it that are really pretty.

My image is SU Christmas Carol. I stamped it with glue from The Rubber Cafe and then rubbed their fine glitter over the image. It is hard to see the sparkle from the glitter in the photo, but it is there.

The sentiment is part of the stamp set, which I stamped on the same music sheet paper, then used SU punch. I inked it with fire brick distress ink.

I finished off my card with red bakers twine and pearls that were made with a silver chrome pearl pen by Viva Decor. I love these pearl pens. I have them in several colors, but which I had them all. You can get them from Simon Says Stamp here.

Would you believe that I even finished of the inside!!!! Again the sentiment is from the same set as the main image. The hollies are also from the set. I added some evergreen distress ink on it.

Come and join us at Creative Card Crew for a chance to win the Simon Says Stamp gift voucher!

Nautical

Nautical - It is time for another challenge at Alphabet Challenge Blog.We are up to N and N is for.....Nautical. For my almost CAS card, I used this sweet little house boat image by Crafts 4 Eternity. It was a freebie that I got ages ago.

My DP is from my stash. I believe that it was in a block, that was long ago seprated. It looks like a life preserver to me and I love the muted blues.

The ribbon was from the $1 bin at Michaels.

The sweet little boat was colored with Copic's. I love the laundry hanging on the line. I fussy cut the image, then used a thick thread to rehang the undies.

Surf's Up

Surf's Up - Cowabunga Dude!!!!! I asked my 7 year old grandson which image to ask for to use for this challenge and he picked this surfing dragon. He is a really cool guy (like my grandson.)

The fortnight's sketch for Seems a Little Sketchy is a really easy one to use and for once, I didn't turn it!

Here is Jenn's lovely sketch. She does an amazing job making all of our sketches.

My image is by Stamping Dragon, who is our sponsor for this challenge. I colored it with Copic's then added some mud puddles that has been in my stash for 3 years and only been used one time prior to this. Which is too bad, because it really is a fun product to use. I also used some Judykins Diamond glaze on his googles.

I had a lot of fun creating spots on the dragon. It is so fun to do using colorless blender.

Hope you will come and play with us at Seems a Little Sketchy!

Sarong

Sarong - My team is up for another challenge at Sunday Sketch and Stamp. It was also my turn to make the sketch. Please be easy on me, as it was my first time to make and sketch. Well here it is!

We are sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs. The make the curvy girls that are so pretty; as well as some that are still pretty but are not so curvy.

I colored Sarong wth Copic's, then added some stickles to her eye lids and the folds of her sarong. I added some lavender tuille behind my DP die cut.

My punch is a MS. I cut it on both sides of the paper and I can't believe that I managed to line them up perfectly!!! A first for me.
The sentiment is Hot Off the Press that I cut with a SU punch.

Keep Swimming

Keep Swimming - The challenge at Craft Your Days Away is Olympic Dreams and we are sponsored by Bugaboo.

Everyone has dreams, but for most of us it doesn't include the Olympics. It is just to high of a bar for most of us to reach. This makes the Olympics and our awesome athletes all the more modern day heros. It is more than just training, it is that rare blend of talent, training and opportunity.

I am proud of what the athletes from my country have accomplished and of how hard they have all worked to get there.

My DP are from Target's Dollar spot. I bought this package about 5 years ago, so it has been in my stash for a long time.

My star punch is MS. I used a few star buttons.

My image is Bugaboo's BF Swimming and is colored with Copics.
