Dad's Big Catch

Dad's Big Catch - This is my first design team project for Craft Your Days Away. I have followed this challenge blog since it's beginning and I am so thrilled to have been invited to join their time. They are a very talented group of ladies and I am enjoying working with them.

Today's challenge is to make something for Father's Day or for a man. For my card, I used paper Boys to Men by Paper Pizazz. This package has 3 color schemes and lots of extra goodies such as the tag and alphabet blocks that I used on this card.
My image is The Big One by Stitchy Bear. I colored it with Copics. I cut the image with a spellbinder and stamped the edge with a Studio G stamp that was inked with Rangers Forest Moss.
Photobucket
Simon Says Stamp is our sponsor for this weeks challenge, which means that you can win some of their yummy stuff. They carry everything from Copics (they are the first place that I have seen to have the new 2011 colors of Copics available individually) to Ranger inks to Spellbinders (again they have the new 2011 release.) You can visit their shop by clicking on the above blinkie. Show them some Craft Your Days Away love.

The challenge at Craft Your Days Away challenge is a fortnightly challenge, so you have 2 weeks to get your project in. You can make a card, but all types of projects are invited to enter.

Tie a Yellow Ribbon

Tie a Yellow Ribbon - I started with the Friday Freebie this week. This image is Love Tree by Sew Many Cards. It took me a while to decide how I wanted to color it, then I ran across this DP. It came together very quickly after that.

My DP is Making Memories, Just Chillin pad. The USA take was cut with my Cricut, useing the Base Camp cartridge. The chain I picked up at a discount store and did not have any brand labels on it. The image was cut with a Spellbinders die-cut.
As many of you know, my husband is in Iraq, so I will be sending this card to him. For those of you who don't know or may have forgotten; a yellow ribbon signifies that we are waiting for someone to come home. A lyrics of a song by Tony Orlando and Dawn are" Tie a yellow ribbon around an old oak tree, if you still want me."
For my second card, I used Sew Many Cards Duncan with Heart Balloon. Isn't he the cutest? My DP is Twinkle, Twinkle little star boy by MME. The flower is 3 petals by Petaloo. The brad is from the Seasonal Shop at Hobby Lobby.

Both of my images were colored with Copics and Duncan recieved some Stickles on his tuff of hair and on the hearts.

I am entering the Yellow Ribbon card in the following challenges:

Colorful Angelica

Colorful Angelica - The challenge this week at Michelle Perkett Studio is to make your own designer paper. I must admit that this was a bit of a challenge for me, as I usually head straight to my DP drawers to create. Luckily at Stamp TV they had a video showing how to make your own DP, so I tried their technique and I am pleased with the result. It was a lot easier then I thought it would be. Give it a whirl and join in the challenge at Michelle Perkett Studio. For the challenge at Michelle Perkett Studio you must use a Michelle Perkett image. Don't have any? At Michelle's group on Paper Craft Planet, she has lots of Freebies.

The challenge at Creative Card Crew is bugs and butteries. You can use any image to join in the fun there.

For my DP I scored the paper and then inked 2 different colors of ink. My sentiment is by Hot Off The Press. The butterfly is from the Spring/Easter seasonal shop at Hobby Lobby. I finished the card off with some aqua gemstones.

Every since I seen Michelle Perkett's blog header with her merpeople Soul-mates colored with multicolored hair, I have wanted to color some of her other mermaids that way. I finally did it. Oh, what fun I had. Angelica is colored with Copic's. I used something from almost every color group that Copic makes. The only one I didn't use was Blue Violet. I added some Stickles to the seaweed in her hair and then added some tiny gemstones.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

I used Stickles and liquid pearls on the image.
Serena was colored with Copics.

Sew Sorry - Love this owl image by Sew Many Cards. This weeks challenge at Sew Many Challenges is flowers and lace. Everyone can play and have a chance to win some awesome images by Sew Many Cards. My DP is Lost Love by Heidi Swapp. The lace is Recollections Boutique Fleur. My big flowers are Petaloo and cut stems.
This time I colored him as a snow owl. I think he looks like he is offering a peace offering. Look at those big eyes, isn't he just pleading with you to accept his apology? This image is caller Oliver and you can get him here. I colored Oliver with Copics and added some Stickles to his wings.
Today's Friday Freebie is this sweet bee with flowers. You can get it here this Friday only, so finish reading this, then head over and get it.

This time I used Big Lots paper pad Celebration. My slider and ribbon is Miss Elizabeth.

Alice's Tea

Alice's Tea - I have made a card with another one of Michelle Perkett's images. This one is Alice of Wonderland fame. I used Making Memories Note Worthy DP. It is double sided, so I was able to make this card using only 1 sheet of paper.
I colored Michelle's delightful Alice with Copics. I used R00, 20, 22, W1, Y0000, 00, 02, 21, E 000, 11, 31, 50. I added some Stickles to her bows, teacup and the steam.
I used a fabric trim rose and the daffodils are cut from a stem. I made the stick pin by gluing the beads on the end of a corsage pin.
The challenge this week at Michelle Perkett's Studio is diecuts, so it is a nice easy one. You do have to use one of Michelle's images to enter, but they are a joy to use. You can buy them here or you can join our group at Paper Craft Planet and get some freebies. The newest one is really adorable. I have it printed, but have not colored it yet.

Graceful Roses

Graceful Roses - I used one of my favorite images by Michelle Perkett for this card. I adore the hair that Michelle puts on her images and this one is so flowing. I can almost see the wind blowing it. You can find Michelle's images here. Look through them for their wonderful hair designs. It would be a great place to look for hair designs for prom or a wedding. My DP is Coffee Talk by Pressed Petals. The pink flower is Recollections and the cream flowers were lose in the Wedding section at Hobby Lobby. I didn't get a picture of it, but the cream flowers have a lovely pearl in the center. The leaves were sold in a bundle also in the wedding section. The gemstone swirl is also Recollections.

Here is a close-up of Michelle's lovely Grace image. I colored her with Copics.

There is still time to join in the fun at Michelle's challenge blog. This week the challenge is mermaids. Michelle makes the most delightful mermaids. I already did my mermaid card. You can see it at the challenge blog here.

Gift From Above

Gift From Above - Blogger has been down and I have been unable to post until now. I spent most of last night checking to see if it was up.

The challenge this week is every one's favorite - anything goes.

I used the Bear on Cloud image by Sew Many Cards. Isn't he adorable? For my card I used DP from the Welcome Baby pad. I love the soft blues in the paper. It looked heavenly to me. The yellow card stock was run through my Cuttlebug with a QuikCuts folder. I tied my double bow using my Bow Easy and added this bottle button to the top of the bow. The flowers are stemed flowers that I cut apart.

My image was colored with Copic's. I added some Star Dust Stickles to the wings.

This card uses the Friday Freebie that you can get here. Isn't that a great image? Tulips are my favorite flower, so I am always eager to color them.

My DP is Miss Elizabeth. The flower is from the same stem as the flowers that I used on the above card. I just selected a more purply flower. The scroll was cut with my Cricut using the Cindy Loo cartridge.

My image is colored with Copic's and I added some Stickles on the patch and the white flowers.

Lilly

Lilly - My daughter has a friend with a foster little girl named Lilly and we have been all about Lilly's since meeting her. She is a delightful and beautiful little girl, just as the flower is beautiful and delightful. I gave this card to my daughter for Mother's day.

The challenge at Creative Card Crew is flowers. We are sponsored by Robyn's Fetish. They have some really gorgeous images, such as this flower.

My DP is from a pad that I have had for ages and I no longer have the cover to know who it is by. The ribbon was on a package of bath supplies and like most crafters, we reuse delightful things like ribbon. The olive colored gemstones are Studio G.
I colored the Lilly with Copic's and paper pieced to get the dimension. I used Spring colored Flower Soft on the stymies. I cut the image with a Spellbinder using the of the page technique.

The pin is one that I made and I am so enjoying using them. I have been on a pin kick for the last few weeks.Pink and green are one of my favorite color combos.

Everyone is invited to join in the challenge at Creative Card Crew. I would love to see what flowers you create and hope you will visit our sponsor Robyn's Fetish and see their lovely images.

Paper Sundaes

Paper Sundaes - This is the second time that I have tried out for the DT at Paper Sundaes. So I am really hoping to be chosen this time. We were asked to post on our blogs some of our past work, so I have selected these previously posted cards.

The first features Rosie by Michelle Perkett. I made this card to fit a challenge of using red with our Copic's. I was a little scared to use reds on something with so many details because reds bleed so much; but I gave it a go anyways and I am so glad that I did. I love the result.

This card was one that I designed because I had seen how to make the tiny roses on a tutorial and wanted to try it. I also taught this card in one of my classes. The cake is cut with my Cricut using the Summer in Paris cartridge.

The 3rd card is a Sweet Pea image. Again she is colored with Copic's. I used lots of Poinsettia flowers and a hung a charm on the ribbon.

These are my 3 cards that I have submitted. I hope that everyone enjoys seeing my past work and that the Paper Sundaes like my work.

For my followers, this was not the promised other post for today. That one will be posted later this evening. Today is my day to catch up on my blog work. I have really busy with other work and of course I am still unpacking from my recent move.

Harmony

Harmony - Hello Friends! This is a big release day for me. This makes my second posting of the day and I still have another post to do later this evening. So scroll down and see another card, using a different image by the creative Michelle Perkett and come back later to see my DT card for Creative Card Crew.

Harmony is one of Michelle Perkett's mermaids. I love her mermaids. She has many that you can get here at her Etsy shop, but 3 of us on the DT all choose Harmony to use for this weeks challenge; which is Mermaids Galore. Isn't that a great theme for Michelle's images?

My blue DP is Playtime from the Orbit collection by Cratepaper. Would you believe that the other side of this paper is monsters? The green and blue DT is by Miss Elisabeth. The bow is Dots and dashes, tied with my Bow Easy and I hung a little flower charm on it. The sea weed image is cut with my Cricut. I used an icon from the Dreams Come True cartridge and stretched the image using my Gpysy. The flowers were distorted, but I love the way the sea weed came out.

My image is Harmony by Michelle Perkett. I colored Harmony with Copic's and added some Star Dust Stickles to the water to make it sparkly. I used lots of gemstones.

Won't you color up one of Michelle's delightful mermaids and join us at Michelle Perkett's Studio?

Christmas with Woofie

Christmas with Woofie - I am trying for the Design Team of Christmas Challenges with Sketches. Isn't that a great idea!!! There are several other year round Christmas challenge blogs out there, but none that are devoted to just sketches. Now I will know where to go to for my Christmas sketches.

I was so excited about trying out for this team that I made 2 cards using their sketch. For my first card I used DP by Paper Studio. I love that it has 5 designs of paper that all coordinate with each other.
Here is the sketch for the DT try outs. Isn't it a great sketch! Very easy to work with.

I used ribbon cut from a bolt at Joanne's. The gemstone Joy is by Marsell's. And the Poinsettia is by Making Memories. The pearl spray is some loss strings of pearls that were some stray things that were in the bottom of a box.

My image is by none other then the fabulous Michelle Perkett. The image is called Woofie in Snow. I colored Woofie with Copic's, then cut the image with a Spellbinder's Nestie.

For my second card I used DP from the Winter Wonder pack by DCWV. I love the shades of blue that they used. The snowflake DP is Vintage Snowflake by Paper Studio. The other DP is not DP at all. I dry embossed and sanded a piece of Coordinate paper. I inked all the edges with Ranger Distress inks Blue China. I was afraid that it would be to light to show, but I think it was just the right amount. I used 3 eyelets, a feather, a Prima flower, and gemstones from my stash.

My sentiment came with the Winter Wonder pack.

I hope that the creative ladies at Christmas Challenges with Sketches like my cards, and that you will join in the fun and have all of your Christmas Cards done early.

Peace on Earth

Peace on Earth - Happy Mother's day to all my friends in blogland. You are right this is not a Mother's day card, but a Christmas one. I had vowed that this year I would play the Christmas challenges throughout the year and not be cramming at the last minute. While I didn't start in January, I am starting now. So this is the first of many out of season Christmas cards.

I could start with none other than the Angel of Hope image by Michelle Perkett. I have made several cards with her, but I never tire of coloring her. She is such a great image and can be used for occasions besides Christmas. She could be used on a sympathy or Easter card. So far I have only colored her in one color scheme, but sometime I would like to color her in rainbow colors.

My DP is from the Seasonal Shop at Hobby Lobby. I love this paper pad. I completely used a whole pad 2 Christmas's ago and have started on my second. The sentiment is a Christmas Recollection's pack. Ribbon is from my stash, as is the little gold squares.

My image is colored with Copics. and I used my gold Spicia pen for the little stars. I used Holly Stickles on the angels dress and Stardust Stickles on the wings.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
